Curriculum
Three Year Old - 2 Day Program
Meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays
Time: 9:00 am - I l:30 am
Maximum number of children in each class is 15.
Teacher-student ratio is 1 teacher- 1 assistant - l5 children
Program focuses on social learning. Children learn through playing. Each new learning experience is a "celebration." We want the children to become familiar with the school day and how classes run. They learn how to get along with other students and build relationships into friendships. We will introduce science, social studies, and reading and writing in a fun, explorative manner. We work on fine motor skills including cutting with scissors. Gross motor skills are enhanced through playground activities, special dance classes and creative movement lessons. We have a full size gym that is available for any extra activities, shows, parades as well as indoor play in case of inclement weather.
Three Year Old - 3 day Program
Meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays
Time: 9:00am. - 11:30am or l2:30pm - 3:00pm
This program offers the same as the 2- day morning classes with an extra day for enhanced learning. This program is for the child who can separate from the parent caregivers wellbeing and would benefit from an additional day in our school.
More Information Regarding our THREE YEAR OLD PROGRAM
This program focuses on developmentally appropriate skills with an emphasis on socialization and leaming through play, encompassing sharing, taking turns, tolerance, manners, and varied activities using thematic units. Our goal is to make learning fun and introduce our students to as many opportunities as possible. Our curriculum is designed to allow children to explore, discover and grow through literature, music, science, mathematics, and art.
*Language development - Vocabulary/concept knowledge and use
*Fine Motor Skills - scissor use, pencil/crayon grasp, and many other daily activities.
*Gross Motor Skills such as climbing, jumping, running, balance beam, scooters, indoor gym and outdoor playground
*Cooking develops sequencing skills, direction following and creativity
*Thematic Units - By categorizing information in units it facilitates learning and vocabulary
*Snack Time offers another opportunity to use manners and learn conversation skills
Four and Five Year Old - 5-day Program
Meet Monday through Friday
Morning Session Only: 9:00 am to 11:30 am
Maximum number of students: 14
Teacher/student ratio: 1 teacher- 1 assistant- 14 students
This program offers the same core-learning program as our 3-day session with two extra days of enrichment. This program was established in order to help students adapt to a full week of school.
Four Year Old - 3 Day Program
Meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
Morning Session: 9:00 am - 11:30 am
Afternoon Session: 12:30 pm - 3:00 pm
Maximum number of students per class is 15.
Teacher - student ratio is 1 Teacher- 1 assistant - 15 children
This program is established for children who may or may not be going to kindergarten the following year. Tiny Tots' goal is to make learning fun and introduce children to as many opportunities as possible. Through literature, music, science, mathematics, and art we develop curiosity and learning. We take field trips to local places of interest. Our curriculum is designed to allow children to explore, discover and grow.
The following is a brief description of some of the activities and skills that students will develop and enjoy at Tiny Tots:
Gross Motor Skills - The children will have a host of experiences which will include running, jumping, hula hoops, balance beams, riding scooters, riding bicycles (Bringing their own birycles on Bicycle Day). The children will also play games in a fun and enriching atmosphere.
Creative Movement Class- We have a dance class one time per month and have a dance instructor teach the children about stretching while they learn about all types of classical music and composers.
Fine Motor Skills - Children work on fine motor skills on a daily basis through writing, cutting with scissors, lacing cards, peg boards, block play, and many other activities. Using a "Handwriting Without Tears" approach we offer numerous ways for the children to develop their skills.
Delv. Living Skills - children will develop their independence in their self- help skiils. They are encouraged to practice putting on coats, zippering, fastening buttons etc. Through jobs in the classroom the students help pass out snack items and learn how to clean up.
Pre-Reading Skiils - we study the alphabet in a hands-on and exciting way. Each week we celebrate a new letter and immerse the students in the sounds and sights of that letter. They get to share a show and tell object that starts with the letter. For the letter "p", we share pancakes and wear our pajamas.
Social - Emotional Skills - Children learn a daily routine and how to behave in a classroom setting. They work together with their classmates to develop strong peer relationships. children are able to choose activities that they enloy. We use the "I care language" to express our feelings when we are happy, sad, angry, or confused. We learn how to share in cooperative groups. Dramatic Play - In our "learning center" children play together in a place for structured free play.
